Description:
Under the guidance and direction of the Manager, Talent Acquisition, the Diversity Recruitment Consultant in the Recruitment and Employment Center (REC)?will proactively source and build Cornell's non-academic talent pipeline; with emphasis on increasing the compositional diversity of our workforce as outlined in the university's diversity plan, Toward New Destinations. The consultant will support the vision of the Manager, Talent Acquisition; serve as an ambassador and promote the overarching goals of the Recruitment and Employment Center by engaging with central and local recruiting stakeholders, influencing change that will lead to the augmentation of a comprehensive diversity recruiting strategy that aligns with the university's institutional diversity plan.
This includes proactively sourcing, influencing, qualifying, and delivering diverse applicant pools to internal hiring stakeholders. Collaborating with current members of the REC team, HR Business Partners, Office of Inclusion & Workforce Diversity (OIWD) , and Colleague Network Groups (CNG's) to better understand diversity specific recruiting needs; provide input on recommended strategies to address needs through best-in-class candidate generation techniques. Provide consultation to the HR Business Partners and REC teams on local, regional, and national diversity talent market and appropriate sourcing channels to execute on sourcing strategies/guidance. Provide candid feedback to candidates and internal hiring stakeholders in a professional manner to assist with future recruitment and sourcing efforts. Identify and evaluate recruitment sources targeting diverse applicants including web sites, job fairs, leveraging social media tools and other advertising avenues
Spearhead the creation of recruitment strategies for key recruitment efforts including creating and implementing tools for internal hiring
stakeholders. Build pipelines and sourcing for diverse candidates to fill Cornell University's talent needs; proactively recruit top talent
and screen candidates for posted or anticipated openings; and function as an advocate for underrepresented talent. Identify, assess, and
establish local, regional, and national alliances with external organizations to create networks and talent sources of targeted populations
in alignment with Toward New Destinations. This may involve
overnight traveling and presenting at careers fairs and conferences.
?Partner in the review of the university Affirmative Action
Plan to effectively anticipate and identify recruitment needs and develop innovative strategies to attract top talent across a broad
applicant pool for identified job families and positions. Identify, develop, and deliver educational and training programs to share and
advance recruitment expertise with HR staff and hiring managers. Identify, create, and translate metrics and open recruitment status reports
into a compelling story.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Human Resources or related field and 2 to 3 years' experience
effectively recruiting top talent and developing recruitment strategies to attract diverse audiences, or an equivalent combination of
education and experience.
- Experience as a diversity recruitment researcher, sourcer or recruiter.
- Demonstrated experience implementing targeted recruiting plans.
- Proven success in establishing and building relationships with diverse populations and effective, including the ability to influence internal stakeholders as needed.
- Skilled in critical and autonomous thinking and decision making with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including excellent organizational and prioritizing skills.
- Proven self-starter with demonstrated analytical and conceptual skills.
- Proven ability to develop metrics and translate data effectively to support implemented initiatives and future decision making.
- Ability to establish effective partnerships with broad internal and external constituents and manage expectations.
- Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and customer service skills; excellent presentations skills.
- Experience successfully marketing an organization to various audiences.
- Developed technology skills including Microsoft Office Suite, recruitment software, applicant tracking systems, and social media platforms.
- Knowledge of OFCCP requirements related to EEO, recruiting, and affirmative action programs.
- Must demonstrate professional poise and presence; intellectual curiosity; and sound judgment.
- Additional recruitment experience preferred within a search consultancy or in-house recruitment team.
- AIRS certification.
- Sales aptitude is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience identifying and utilizing effective tools for sourcing diverse candidates including social media.
