(AP) ? Ukrainians are electing a parliament on Sunday in a crucial vote tainted by the jailing of top opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko and fears of election fraud.

With the charismatic former premier serving a seven-year sentence on abuse of office charges and the opposition split into two parties, President Viktor Yanukovych's Party of Regions is expected to retain its parliamentary majority.

The West is paying close attention to the conduct of the vote in the strategic ex-Soviet state, which lies between Russia and the expanding European Union and is responsible for transporting energy supplies to many EU countries.

A strong showing by the Party of Regions will cement Yanukovych's grip on power and likely turn Ukraine further away from the West. Ukraine's relations with the U.S. and the European Union have soured over the jailing of Tymoshenko, pushing Brussels to shelve a long-awaited partnership deal with Kiev. If the West turns a cold shoulder on Ukraine, Moscow is likely to court Kiev to create a greater economic and political alliance.

The pro-Western opposition groups hope to gain enough parliament seats to challenge Yanukovych's power and undo what they call his undemocratic and harmful policies, such as the jailing of Tymoshenko and her top allies, the concentration of power in the hands of the president, the upgrading of the status of the Russian language, which some believe poses a threat to the Ukrainian tongue, waning press freedoms, a deteriorating business climate and growing corruption.

Dmitry Kovalenko, a 50-year-old entrepreneur in Kiev said he voted for Tymoshenko's Fatherland party in hopes of ending Yanukovych's monopoly on power.

"I am against repression," Kovalenko said after casting his ballot in a polling station in central Kiev. "It's easy to win when your opponents are in jail."

But the opposition has been weakened with Tymoshenko, the 51-year-old heroine of the 2004 Orange Revolution that had ousted Yanukovych from power, in jail. Tymoshenko's Fatherland party is running neck-to-neck with another pro-Western group, the Udar (Punch) party led by world boxing champion Vitali Klitschko.

Klitschko's party has gained popularity in recent months, capitalizing on voter disappointment with both Yanukovych and Tymoshenko's years in power, which were marked by a slow pace of reforms and constant bickering in the Orange camp.

"We've tasted both the orange and the blue and life hasn't changed for the better," said Zhanna Holovko, a 43-year-old high school teacher in Keiv referring to the campaign colors of the Orange revolution team and Yanukovych's party. "I am voting for a third force that I can trust," Holovko said after voting for Klitschko's group.

The opposition's failure to form a strong alliance has played into the hands of Yanukovych.

And while Tymoshenko's and Klitschko's parties are expected to make a strong showing in elections by party lists, half of the 450 seats in the Verkhovna Rada will be allocated to the winners of individual races where the Party of Regions are stronger. Yanukovych has centered his party's campaign on bringing stability after years of infighting in the Orange camp and relative economic recovery after the global financial crisis, which hit Ukraine severely.

"Stability, stability, stability is what Ukraine needs," said Olexiy Nalivaichenko, 35, a civil servant in Kiev, who voted for Yanukovych's party. "We want to feel confident and secure about tomorrow."

Also expected to get into parliament is the Communist party, which is expected to side with Yanukovych's lawmakers. Another party that could pass the 5 percent threshold is the nationalist Svoboda (Freedom), a staunch government critic infamous for xenophobic and anti-Semitic statements.

Besides Tymoshenko's jailing, which already raises big questions about the fairness of the vote, preliminary reports by international observers have identified numerous other problems during the election campaign. They include the use of state funds, bureaucracy and facilities by the ruling party in support of their candidates, media coverage on television tilted toward the Party of Regions, reports of intimidation of opposition candidates and the opposition's fears of ballot stuffing and other vote fraud.

13" retina MacBook Pro gets the customary teardown treatment

13" retina MacBook Pro gets the customary teardown treatment

It didn't take long for the guys over at iFixIt to get their hands on the new 13" retina MacBook Pro and give it their typical teardown treatment. While it's slightly more recyclable and repairable than it's 15" counterpart, it still only achieved a 2 out of 10 repairability score from the folks over at iFixIt.

The 15" retina MacBook Pro managed to stir up some controversy when EPEAT certified it gold by significantly lowering their standards. This time around, it appears that Apple is trying to make some changes with the 13" to make it more compliant. While it does come apart easier than the 15" model, it's still not very upgradeable according to iFixIt.

The 13" MacBook Retina is slightly more recyclable than the 15" Retina. Once inside, it took us only 15 minutes of prying to remove the battery, and we didn't puncture the battery cells. It was definitely a doable feat (compared to nearly impossible for the 15" Retina), but still a far cry from the no-adhesive, non-Retina MacBook Pros.

The 13" Retina's design is a step in the right direction, but it's a very small step: the RAM is still not upgradeable, the exterior screws are still proprietary, and replacing the display will still cost an arm and a leg. Accordingly, it earned a 2/10 repairability score, a meager one point higher than its 15" sibling.

Basically, while the battery isn't held down with as much adhesive as the 15" retina MacBook Pro's battery, it's still quite a feat to remove it. On the up side, the trackpad is only held in with screws and should be replaceable while the 15" trackpad is next to impossible to replace considering it's buried underneath the almost impossible to remove battery. The 13" SSD may also be replaceable according to iFixIt.

Our first thought was that a standard 2.5" laptop drive might fit in the SSD space, and it almost looks like the little nook was designed with that in mind. Yet, our 9.5mm Crucial SSD didn't allow the bottom cover to be closed, but only by a smidge. We'll see if a 7 mm or 5 mm super-slim hard drive could be incorporated into the space.

While these are steps made in the right direction by Apple, it's still a computer that a lot of DIY'ers and those looking to be able to upgrade over time will most likely want to steer away from. A screen replacement will still cost an arm and a leg as well as many other repairs.

It will be interesting to see what the case is with the newly announced iMacs when those are released and torn down. Given the new, slimmer profile, it could make upgrades and recycling a lot harder. And in a desktop computer, upgradeability is a huge deal.

WASHINGTON (AP) ? The 2012 presidential campaign was expected Thursday to pass the $2 billion mark in fundraising, according to accounting statements submitted to the government, thanks to an outpouring of cash from both ordinary citizens and the wealthiest Americans hoping to influence the selection of the country's next leader.

The eye-popping figure puts this election on track to be the costliest in history, fueled by a campaign finance system vastly altered by the proliferation of "super" political committees that are bankrolling a barrage of TV ads in battleground states.

President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney had brought in more than $1.5 billion through the end of September, according to previous fundraising reports submitted before the final pre-election accounting statements were due Thursday night. Obama hadn't yet disclosed his fundraising for early October, but Romney's campaign said it raised $111.8 million in the first two weeks. Added to that: more than $230 million in donations involving super PACs since 2011.

The largest of those were two pro-Romney groups. American Crossroads, a Republican-leaning super PAC with ties to former President George W. Bush's longtime political counselor Karl Rove, reported raising at least $68 million through September. Restore Our Future, founded by former Romney aides, reported raising $110 million so far. Priorities USA, a pro-Obama group founded by two former aides to the president, reported raising $50 million through last month.

The $2 billion fundraising figure doesn't include nearly $130 million spent on political ads by non-profit groups that aren't required to file campaign finance reports or disclose their donors. Such so-called social welfare organizations are governed by tax laws, not election laws, although they are often affiliated with established super PACs.

Presidential candidates in 2008 raised more than $1.8 billion in inflation-adjusted figures. This time, new factors have contributed to the sharp escalation in the campaign money chase.

This year marked the first time that both major party candidates opted out from the public financing system established to set limits on how much a presidential candidate can raise and spend. Both Obama and Romney would have been eligible for about $100 million in taxpayer money to support their campaigns through the general election, but both gambled ? correctly ? that they could raise and spend far more.

In 2008, Obama became the first presidential contender to refuse all public financing while his Republican rival, Arizona Sen. John McCain, accepted the government funds. The lopsided result ? Obama outspent McCain by more than 2-to-1 in the general election ? effectively ended public funding as an option for serious candidates.

With the 2012 election so tight, both Obama and Romney have spent considerable time at high-dollar fundraising events courting wealthy donors. Romney last month lamented the time spent fundraising rather than speaking to larger groups of voters, saying "fundraising is a part of politics when your opponent decides not to live by the federal spending limits."

Both Obama and Romney have raised considerable cash from small donors, too, especially the president. His campaign reported that more than 2 million donors have contributed at least $427 million to his campaign.

Federal election regulators have raised the limit on individual contributions to candidates, which means campaigns can solicit more money from donors than they have in the past. Individual donors can now give a total of $5,000 in the primary and general elections to a candidate, compared to just $2,000 in 2000.

Michael Toner, a Republican campaign finance lawyer and former chairman of the Federal Election Commission, said the close race between Obama and Romney and the sharply polarized electorate have also played a role in accelerating the dash for dollars.

"I don't know any campaign manager who thinks they have too much money. In this political 50-50 environment you can't ever have enough," Toner said. "Every last million could make the difference in who is elected."

But the emergence of super PACs and other outside groups, unleashed partly by the Citizens United decision by the Supreme Court in 2010, has done more than anything else to reshape the contours of presidential campaign fundraising. A handful of federal court cases have broadly eased campaign finance regulations, allowing corporations and wealthy individuals to spend unlimited sums. Most of the money has been funneled to super PACs, which can raise and spend money on behalf of candidates as long as they don't coordinate expenditures or strategy with the campaign.

"The distinctive factor in this election is the outside money being spent and the corrupting money financing it," said Fred Wertheimer, a longtime campaign finance reform advocate. "It's a symbol of the disastrous campaign finance system we have and the undue influence relatively few well-financed individuals and interest groups now have over government decisions.

Las Vegas casino mogul Sheldon Adelson is the top super PAC donor this year. Adelson, a billionaire, has contributed more than $40 million to Republican super PACs, including those backing Romney.

That man Quilts?: OMG, what have I done?

Hi, my name is Lane.? This is my daughter Sydney.

She?s a freshman.? My personal goal for basketball this year is to do things I?ve never done.? My favorite basketball memory is watching Sydney walk out to the car in her practice uniform and cowboy boots.? She blamed this crime against fashion on Rob, who told her not to wear her new, expensive basketball shoes outside the gym.

Last night was the mandatory parent meeting for girls basketball and that?s the kind of introduction each of the girls had to give about themselves.? If they didn?t want to share a goal or memory, the could share an appropriate quote.? Some did and the quotes were very appropriate.?

I don?t remember much of what Sydney said.? She introduced herself and pointed us out and said ?and those are my two Daddies back there.?? and a Mom yelled ?where?.? and Sydney pointed again and said ?back there? and Rob and I waved.? And, I don?t remember much of what happened after that.

Now, before you get all misty eyed, yes that was a wonderful thing for her to do and I am so proud of her for doing it.? But, I?m from an old school and while I was busting my buttons with pride, not just that she pointed us out, but that she did it so proudly, I was also trying to crawl between two floor tiles because I guess it is always going to be uncomfortable to be ?outed? in a crowd of strangers.?

Ya wanna know sumpin?? I?ll live with that, if the next generation can be prouder than my generation was.? That?s progress.

Anyway, after a while, it got to be time for parents to sign up to volunteer.? Before I left the table, I gave Sydney one of my very hard looks and when she said ?what?? I replied, I?m just not sure you know what you?re getting yourself into.

So, what did I sign up for, you ask?? Not food, that?s for sure.? They were looking for people to volunteer to feed 45 people a main course, a side and a drink.? And, Coach did not describe that as sandwiches and chips.

I volunteered to?

Keep the score sheet, keep the clock, and work the gate.? All on different nights.? Each one on three different occasions.?

That is so much NOT like me.? I guess I got caught up in the fervor.? I don?t think Rob approved, and that?s all right.? He?s the one that?s going to have to hear me moan and gripe about ?what did I do?? How did I let myself sign up for this?? I can?t do this.? I?m going to have to talk to people.? What have I done??

But, you know what?? I signed up for the things that interested me the most out of what was presented.?? And, right now, I?m feeling VERY comfortable with what I have volunteered to do.?

Of course, I will be reading up on the game of basketball, because, like I told the coach before I signed up, I?ll volunteer, but I?m going to need training.? I don?t have any idea how to do these things.? And, coach said it didn?t matter.

There were only about 10 of us, signing up for about 60 volunteer opportunities.? So, I don?t feel bad about signing up to work at 9 home games.? Lots of folks didn?t volunteer for anything.?

Another thing that surprised me, and went right along with Sydney not being ashamed that she had two dads, was the fact that so many of these girls were there with a guardian.? Generally a relative.? Half the girls there are being raised by a grandparent or an older sibling.? Unconventional families are all the rage now, I guess, so we?re going to fit right in.?

Keep me in your thoughts.? I don?t always have the confidence I had last night.? I will second guess myself.? I will berate myself.? But, there?s something else about myself.? Even though I?ll be uncomfortable, I?ll be there for every single one of those volunteer opportunities?early.? And, like my Dad taught me, I?ll stay until they don?t need me anymore.

That?s me, too.

Be well and have a great Thursday.? I?m trying to take tomorrow off to do some things that I am not finding time in my regular life for.? Unfortunately, that isn?t just quilting.

And, my Mom told me to tell you all thanks for the good thoughts and prayers during her surgery last week.? She?s doing well and walking on her new knee with little pain.?

GOP Senate candidate: Pregnancies from rape God?s will

(CNN) ? Richard Mourdock, running for U.S. Senate in Indiana, said at a debate Tuesday that pregnancies resulting from rape are intended by God.

The Republican candidate was explaining his opposition to abortion in cases of rape or incest when he made the remark.

? Follow the Ticker on Twitter: @PoliticalTicker

? Check out the CNN Electoral Map and Calculator and game out your own strategy for November.

"I struggled with it myself for a long time, and I realized that life is a gift from God, and I think even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something God intended to happen," Mourdock said, explaining that he would allow for exceptions to an abortion ban when a mother's life is in danger.

In early May, Mourdock defeated longtime GOP Sen. Richard Lugar in a bitterly contested GOP primary vote, and is facing Democratic Rep. Joe Donnelly in November's election.

In a statement following the debate, Mourdock wrote that "God creates life, and that was my point."

"God does not want rape, and by no means was I suggesting that He does. Rape is a horrible thing, and for anyone to twist my words otherwise is absurd and sick," he continued.

Donnelly also responded, writing, "I think rape is a heinous and violent crime in every instance. The God I believe in and the God I know most Hoosiers believe in, does not intend for rape to happen?ever. What Mr. Mourdock said is shocking, and it is stunning that he would be so disrespectful to survivors of rape."

Mourdock has enjoyed support from GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, who traveled to Indiana in August to campaign for the tea party-backed candidate alongside former Vice President Dan Quayle and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. Romney has also appeared in a television ad for Mourdock.

Andrea Saul, a Romney campaign spokeswoman, said in response to Mourdock's rape comments that "Gov. Romney disagrees with Richard Mourdock's comments, and they do not reflect his views."

Former President Bill Clinton stumped in Indiana last week for Donnelly. A Howey/DePauw University poll taken September 19-23 showed Donnelly at 40% and Mourdock at 38% among likely Indiana voters.

The Republican Senate candidate's remarks on rape and abortion are the latest flash point on the highly sensitive issue. In August, U.S. Rep. Todd Akin of Missouri ? also running for Senate ? ignited a firestorm when he said "legitimate rape" rarely resulted in pregnancy.

Akin, who faced backlash from Democrats as well as from most of his own party, defiantly remained in the race, despite calls from GOP leaders, including Romney, to step aside.

And Rep. Joe Walsh, another tea party-backed Republican running for re-election in Illinois, questioned last week the necessity of allowing abortions if a mother's life is at risk, saying such an exemption to an abortion ban was simply a tool by pro-choice activists.

Speaking after a debate with his opponent, Walsh seemed to suggest medical advances made dangerous pregnancies rare.

"This is an issue that opponents of life throw out there to make us look unreasonable," Walsh said. "There's no such exception as life of the mother, and as far as health of the mother, same thing, with advances in science and technology. Health of the mother has been, has become a tool for abortions any time under any reason."

CNN's Rachel Streitfeld contributed to this report.

Five steps people can take to prevent obesity, according to Step Up and Go.

8

Hours of sleep

When people don?t sleep enough, they eat and drink more. And recent research suggests poor sleep causes fat cells to respond differently to insulin, possibly leading to type 2 diabetes.

5

Servings of fruits or vegetables a day

substituted for less-healthy food.

2

Hours or less of ?recreational screen time.?

That goes for TV, video games, Facebook and ?Words With Friends.? When staring at the TV or your smartphone, you?re not exercising. You?re also more likely to be snacking, said Emily Fleury, a director at Inland Northwest Health Services.

1

One hour or more or physical activity.

That includes a ?gold standard? of at least 35 minutes of aerobic activity where your heart rate is up, Fleury said. But if you?re not there yet, ?one hour of doing anything is better than doing nothing.?

0

Sugary beverages a day

? including soda, juice and sweetened coffee?drinks.

It?s no secret that eating healthy food and working up a regular sweat prevent obesity ? or that preventing obesity can help prevent chronic illnesses including diabetes, heart disease and?stroke.

Health advice comes from all directions ? doctors, media, friends, school, work. Sometimes, said Emily Fleury, a director at Inland Northwest Health Services, we get so much advice about staying healthy ? and sometimes seemingly conflicting advice ? that many people file it in their minds as junk mail. They ignore it?all.

That?s why INHS and other organizations behind the 2-year-old Step Up and Go program created a program that distills eating and exercise advice into easy-to-digest bites. The 85210 program offers five daily guidelines ? one per digit ? for preventing?obesity.

Mostly in its beginning stages, 85210 is making a few appearances ? on TV spots, on posters on workplace billboards, in a proclamation by Spokane Mayor David Condon last month that fall 2012 is ?Step Up and Go for ?85210? season.? Organizers plan to spread the message throughout the community, targeting day cares and schools, work sites and health care?facilities.

?Somebody that?s trying to prevent heart disease is going to tell you something different than somebody that?s trying to prevent cancer, and they?re going to tell you something different from somebody who?s trying to prevent diabetes,? Fleury said. ?But really they?re all speaking the same message. They want you to improve your nutrition, they want you increase your?exercise.?

The program places Spokane among more and more communities nationwide where health advocates are working to create and disseminate simplified, streamlined information about obesity prevention, Fleury said. The 85210 program is based on a childhood-obesity prevention program in Portland, Maine, among the oldest efforts of its kind and one that?s been proven to improve residents? body-mass indexes, a standard measure of?obesity.

The trend stems partly from financial shrewdness among nonprofit organizations and others aiming to educate residents and reduce obesity ? they?re putting their ?little pockets of money? together to create a unified message, Fleury?said.

It?s also born from a belief among health advocates that when the same easy-to-follow advice comes from multiple sources, people are more likely to incorporate it into their lives. The 85210 program focuses on five aspects of daily life: sleep, diet, recreational screen time, exercise and sugary?drinks.

In the next two years, the program will focus on children. Part of that effort: working with other organizations to provide training and other resources for day care facilities in Spokane County and five surrounding counties. Those efforts will be funded by a $930,000 federal?grant.

The 85210 program is the newest campaign by Step Up and Go, an obesity-prevention group founded in 2010 as Step Up?Spokane.

It changed its name to include people from elsewhere in the region, said Dr. Hal Goldberg, a Spokane cardiologist and the group?s founder. Step Up and Go is run out of INHS offices but also has backing from Premera Blue Cross, Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and?others.

Step Up and Go serves as a central resource for local fitness-related events and health information, Goldberg said. But it?s also supposed to hold up a mirror to the community: Two-thirds of Spokane County residents are overweight or obese, reflecting national?rates.

When you?re overweight but see that lots of other people are, too, you might figure you?re OK, Goldberg said. There?s no motivation to?change.

?Well, if this is the norm, it?s not a healthy norm,? Goldberg?said.

In 2009, nearly 29 percent of Spokane County residents were obese, based on their body-mass index. Another 35 percent were considered?overweight.

?As trends go, people in the overweight category keep going up,? Fleury said. ?People who are in healthy category tend to stay there, people who are overweight and people who are in the really obese category tend to go up as well. We want to change?that.?

Euro zone cut fiscal deficit in 2011, debt up

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - The euro zone's fiscal deficit fell sharply last year as governments slashed expenses and raised taxes to regain market confidence in their public finances, but public debt still climbed, data from the European Union's statistics office showed on Monday.

Eurostat said the aggregate budget deficit in the 17 countries using the euro fell to 4.1 percent of gross domestic product in 2011 from 6.2 percent in 2010 - the first year of the sovereign debt crisis.

Euro zone public debt, however, rose to 87.3 percent of GDP in 2011 from 85.4 percent, Eurostat said.

The euro zone's biggest economy, Germany, slashed its budget deficit to 0.8 percent in 2011 from 4.1 percent in 2010 and its debt fell to 80.5 percent of GDP from 82.5 percent.

Ireland reported a spectacular drop in the deficit to 13.4 percent from 30.9 percent as the one-off expense of shoring up its banking sector disappeared from its books. But its debt jumped to 106.4 percent from 92.2 percent.

Greece, where the crisis started, had the highest debt in Europe last year, reaching 170.6 percent of GDP even though it reduced its deficit to 9.4 percent from 10.7 percent in 2010 and 15.6 percent in 2009.

The 2011 Greek deficit number is 0.3 percentage points higher than estimated by Eurostat in April, mainly because of a downward revision of Greek economic growth, Eurostat said.

Spain, whose public finances are now in market focus, reduced its budget deficit only marginally to 9.4 percent in 2011 from 9.7 percent in 2010. The 2011 figure is 0.9 percentage points higher than previously reported.

"The increase in the deficit for 2011 is mainly due to the re-classification of capital injections by central government into Catalunya Caixa Bank, NCG Bank and Unnim Bank and to the previously unrecorded unpaid bills in the state and local government sub-sectors," Eurostat said.

But Spain's debt was still relatively low, at 69.3 percent of GDP against 61.5 percent in 2010.

Italy, also under market scrutiny cut its budget shortfall to 3.9 percent from 4.5 percent in 2010. Its debt inched higher to 120.7 percent from 119.2 percent.

Portugal, already on a euro zone financial lifeline after being cut off from market borrowing, more than halved its budget deficit last year to 4.4 percent of GDP from 9.8 percent as a result of reforms, but its debt jumped to 108.1 percent from 93.5 percent.

Worst Company for Customer Service: Comcast

Worst Company for Customer Service: Comcast When we asked you which companies were the worst at customer service, we expected to hear all kinds: tech companies, communications companies, banks, retailers, restaurants. We didn't expect you to weigh in so heavily with communications companies though, most of which have virtual monopolies, so they get away with whatever they choose. After we collected your nominations, we looked at the five worst companies for customer service, and put them to an overall vote. Now we're back to crown the worst of the worst.

Worst Company for Customer Service: Comcast Voting was tight all weekend, and many of you straight out noted that deciding which company has the worst customer service was more difficult than choosing the best of any category. In the end however it was Comcast that took the top spot with over 32% of the votes cast.

Behind Comcast in second place was PayPal, taking the silver with over 22% of the overall vote. AT&T made a respectable showing in third place, pulling in over 20% of the votes cast. The real fight was for fourth and fifth place, which was decided by just over 100 votes: Time Warner Cable edged out Verizon for fourth place with the former earning close to 13% of the overall vote, and the latter pulling in closer to 12%.

The Hive Five is based on reader nominations. As with most Hive Five posts, if your favorite was left out, it's not because we hate it?it's because it didn't get the nominations required in the call for contenders post to make the top five. We understand it's a bit of a popularity contest, but if you have a favorite, we want to hear about it. Have a suggestion for the Hive Five? Send us an email at tips+hivefive@lifehacker.com!

Goldman Sachs tags London site as Europe HQ in "Project Armada"

LONDON (Reuters) - Goldman Sachs is lining up a future eight-storey building beside its London office as the site of its new European headquarters, according to confidential documents referring to project "Armada".

The bank purchased the second of two office blocks occupying the site of the new campus last year. But it has never confirmed it will move into the site adjacent to its current HQ on Fleet Street, the district which was the hub for Britain's newspapers until the 1980s when legal and financial firms moved in.

Over 100 pages of technical drawings and data seen by Reuters show a clear assumption that Goldman plans to consolidate its London operations into the new building, which is 1.2 million square feet.

The bank is simultaneously pressing ahead with plans to group its Bangalore offices together in a major new back-office centre housing 4,000 staff, codenamed "Big Bang."

"GS London and Bangalore campuses are currently not consolidated, obstructing collaboration among the GS employees and duplicating infrastructure requirements," the report by architect Adamson Associates said.

"Armada and Big Bang projects provide an opportunity for resolution of this situation," it said.

A Goldman Sachs spokeswoman declined to comment.

The London project has faced some hurdles. The site acquired by Goldman includes a building that was London's largest telephone exchange when it opened in 1961 and the bank needed special permission to remove protected murals from it.

The bank had argued that the nine ceramic panels by relatively unknown artist Dorothy Annan were not rare. But the murals were listed by the government as being of national importance and special interest as surviving works of 1960s mural art.

Goldman also had to promise telecoms firm BT Group that it would get access to current telecoms tunnels during and after construction.

The designs for the new London office include fan and generator rooms that can be used to power trading operations and a 50 square meter area for secure waste and shredding. There are also details on how much shower, locker and bicycle parking space will be included in the new building.

Makeup, Fashion, Music and Life = Me: Product Review: Careline ...

Hello ladies! How is your weekend so far??

I had a blast on my weekend! I will tell you more about it for sure next time. I was able to hang out with my gorgeous friends and we watched a movie in which I haven't done in a long time!?

On today's post will be about the Careline Pimple Concealer.?

A lot of girls have told me I have perfect or great skin in which I can say I am thankful they said it but in reality I don't have really great skin because I have neglected it for sometime when I over worked myself when I was in the call center two years ago.?

I rarely wear make up but when I do, I have to use a concealer since one of the things I first notice on my skin is my dark spots and blemishes. Covering them up is good but I think a much better way is cover them up and heal them at the same time.?Tea tree oil is a great product to use to heal blemishes in which this concealer has.?

Packaging wise this comes in a tube packaging with a doe tip applicator. The color I bought is natural which is great if you have fair to medium skin tone.?The product itself is just right since its not too thick nor too light. It does dry out a bit fast so you have to blend this well in your problem areas to avoid product build up which leads up to cakey look.?

Its quite cheap which is great if you are a student or you have a budget. This is retailed at 80php (approx 1.94USD)?

I've tried this on a blemish I had a couple of days prior to this post and as of the moment the blemish had healed. But just a reminder that everyone is different so the effectiveness of this product may be different from mine to yours okay?

Let's get to the low down k??

Pros:

- Affordable

- Locally available.?

- Perfect for pinay skin.

- Proves to its claim.?

- Conceals my blemishes well.?

Cons:

- Product dries a bit quick so user needs to blend it out immediately.?

Verdict:?

This is a good product to use. I wouldn't say that I love it since I like creamy concealers more. I did love that it concealed and healed my blemishes which is really nice.

Will I repurchase it again??

I don't think so. I think I will be trying out the other concealers first.

Who do I recommend this to?
If you are on a budget you might want to get this since its still good to use.

What is your favorite concealer and why?

Let me know on the comment box and I'll talk to you next time :)

Much Love!

xx Alice

The man with the plastic mesh bag is looking for a sale. Hanging out in the well-worn dirt strip on the edge of one of Managua?s main intersections, he eyes each vehicle, searching for customers?or police. He?s surrounded by other vendors, shirts hung with multiple pairs of cheap sunglasses, wrists with plastic bags full of remotes, windshield wipers, and phone chargers. Several hold sticks on which perch little chocoyos?parakeets?with clipped wings. Whenever a driver or passenger shows a flicker of interest, the sellers move casually out into traffic?private vehicles for the wealthy few and exuberantly decorated public buses, many of them castoff yellow school buses from the United States. Now the man with the bag spots a possibility. The passengers in an SUV have been asking to see a lapa, or scarlet macaw, one of the biggest and brightest of the birds in Nicaragua?s forests, but also among the rarest and most protected?far too valuable to display by the roadside. He hustles to the car and tells the driver to go through the intersection and pull over just past a gas station.

Leaning in through the front passenger window of the parked SUV, he offers the people inside a lapa. ?I can get it for you tomorrow.? But they want to see something now. So he returns with the bag. From inside he draws a red-lored Amazon: a green parrot with a band of crimson above the nose. More common and less expensive than a scarlet macaw, it still belongs to a species scientists are considering listing as threatened. The bird blinks in the sudden mid-afternoon light and flaps its wings. The man keeps a tight grip, though it?s a baby, with feathers still growing in. Born about six months earlier in the forest, in the cavity of a tree trunk, the bird was taken from the nest by a poacher who climbed or cut the tree. Then it was dosed with rum or Valium, placed in the bottom of a bag or basket, and kept quiet beneath a damp towel for the trip to Managua.

Desperate poachers are robbing Nicaragua's forests of their diversity.

Down in the dark of the bag the man has brought over, two more pairs of eyes look up. The people in the SUV want to see these birds, too. Reluctantly (they won?t bring as much money), the man brings them out. These are orange-chinned parakeets, smaller, around 4 months old. Feeling his way toward a sale, the man makes up a story. ?They?re a family. These are the babies. You can have them all for $130.?

The people in the SUV are still undecided, so the man tries once more. ?I can get you as many as you need,? he says, which is true?all he has to do is go to a holding center in the capital where birds from rural areas are kept as inventory. ?Just tell me what you want.?

So goes the slow, steady depletion of wildlife from Nicaragua?s forests, and from those in the rest of Central America?especially the raucous, vibrantly plumed, highly intelligent parrots. Nicaragua is the poorest nation in Central America and the second poorest in the Western Hemisphere, with limited funds for law enforcement and limited economic opportunities to draw people away from the wildlife trade. And there?s a long tradition here of taking animals from the forests to keep as pets. Around Managua,? furtively but persistently, vendors sell the country?s wild birds and other animals. Along the highways, too, in roadside markets the government despairs of stopping, parrots and parakeets and the occasional monkey are offered as pets; bunches of iguanas, hung upside down by their tails with their mouths sewn shut so they can?t bite, are sold for meat. Traders who travel to the farming frontier, at the forest?s edge, exchange food and other goods for wildlife, then smuggle the animals to roadside sellers or back to the capital. For every bird who appears live for sale, an estimated three have died?from dehydration, suffocation, hypothermia, starvation, injury, or stress.

For every bird who appears live for sale, an estimated three have died from dehydration, suffocation, hypothermia, starvation, injury, or stress.

?I?m overwhelmed? by a growing frustration and helplessness,? says Martin Lezama-L?pez, an ornithologist whose work on parrot populations helped get tougher laws passed in Nicaragua. ?Each day it becomes clearer that there is a demand for these birds. This demand hasn?t changed in decades, despite many environmental campaigns in support of nature.?

Largely invisible within Nicaragua, a wider international trade also drains wildlife from forests such as the Bosawas Biosphere Reserve in the north and the Indio Maiz Biological Reserve in the southeast. Animals are smuggled out of the country despite restrictions on wild bird imports imposed by the United States in 1992 and a European Union ban enacted in 2007, and after Nicaragua in 2005 eliminated quotas that for decades had allowed the export of limited numbers of less threatened birds, reptiles, and amphibians?up to 10,000 parrots and parakeets a year.

An untold number of animals illegally depart the country on flights, hidden in false-bottomed suitcases or lengths of PVC pipe taped to passengers? bodies like drugs. Others trickle across Nicaragua?s borders via the Pan-American Highway into Honduras or Costa Rica. Often they end up in El Salvador, which has few forests and little wildlife left but serves as a major transshipment point for traffickers. From there, animals are sent to the United States, Europe, and Japan, where the most sought-after parrots can each bring $1,000, $2,000, or more. Andr?s G?mez Palacios, deputy commissioner of the Nicaraguan police?s Division of Economic Investigations, says people from outside the country place orders and the animals are delivered to them through networks that reach the most remote communities.

?It is not only one person,? he says. ?It is groups. It is many, many people.?

ROMNESIA SPREADING! | Weekly World News

President Obama announced to the nation that a deadly disease, Romnesia, is spreading across America!

According to the Obama Administration and the CDC ?Romnesia? is a communicable disease that causing people to ?lose their minds? and act ?like morons.?

?The president and his staff believe that the ?Romnesia? is the perfect term for this new disease that seems to be affecting almost half the country.?

Romnesia hit this woman particularly hard:

Joe Biden told a crowd in ?Virginia., ?Boy, I tell you what, I hope y?all don?t get Romnesia. It?s a bad disease. It?s contagious. ?Please, don?t let anybody in your family become a moron.?

Unfortunately, Joe Biden caught the disease soon after his speech:

Although doctors say that Biden probably has had ?Romnesia? for decades.

Some people in Hollywood have come down with Romnesia as well. ?Arnold Schwarzenegger completely forgot that he had an affair with his maid. ?He was shocked when he read his own book:

President Obama told a crowd in Florida, ?If you say you?ll protect a woman?s right to choose, but you stand up at a primary debate and said that you?d be ?delighted? to sign a law outlawing that right to choose in all cases, man, you?ve definitely got Romnesia,? he said.

Soon after the speech, President Obama got Romnesia:

Riffing as if he was trying to remember why he was in Virginia, Obama said he had good news for anyone who suffers from Romnesia. ?Obamacare covers pre-existing conditions,? he bellowed. ?We can fix you up. We?ve got a cure! We can make you well, Virginia.?

Obama then announced his new Vice President. ?A woman who ?is also suffering from Romnesia. ?But I think she?s the greatest woman in America.? ?Here she is:

The White House estimates that close t0 50% of the country is suffering from Romnesia and is recommending that they all be quarantined until December ? at least. ??We can?t have morons walking around the country. ? Not until we come up with an antidote to Romnesia. ?For now, the best antidote is forcing these people to say home, especially on November 6th.?

That has this man confused:
